When some people break, you’ll learn to thrive
It’s easy to complain when something goes wrong; it’s easy to notice what we’ve missed.
Take the last couple of years, for example.
So many of us have focused on what we’ve been deprived of. The people we haven’t been able to see. The places we haven’t been able to go. The opportunities lost. And yet, as difficult as these past few years have been, there are also so many things that would not exist had they not happened.
A new appreciation for life and a desire for more time with family and friends; a clearer perspective about priorities in our lives; a better understanding of the world around us (and how fragile it is); an awareness that all too often those who seem to have it all, don’t really have anything at all.
Adversity is an inevitable part of life.
It’s what we do with that adversity that makes the difference. To find the benefit in every failure, we must first be honest with ourselves and recognize that we are, in fact, failing. No one is perfect, and pretending to be will only set us up for disappointment.
Understand the difference between a failure and a mistake
Making a mistake is simply an error in judgment.
It can be easily corrected and doesn’t have to have any long-term consequences.
On the other hand, failing means that you have not met your goal or objective. It can be due to several factors, such as not putting enough effort into it, not having the required skills or knowledge, or simply not trying hard enough.
Failing can also signify that you are doing something wrong and need to change your approach.
Acknowledge that failure is inevitable
Failure is inevitable in life.
We will all trip and fall, and it’s through those events that we can learn and grow. No matter how difficult or discouraging it may be, we can find something positive in every experience. Failure teaches us what is not working to better understand what does work. We can also find out more about ourselves and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us.
No one can succeed at everything they do, and it’s important to remember that failure will happen.
Every time we try something new, there is a chance that we will not succeed, even for those of us who are super optimists. It’s essential to be resilient in the face of failure and keep trying because eventually, we will find success.
Remember, every adversity carries the seed of an equivalent or more significant benefit, which makes it possible to enjoy all of life’s many opportunities.
Find something positive in every experience, no matter how difficult or discouraging it may be
When life, love, or business throws us a curveball, it can be tough to find the silver lining.
We can use a few techniques to find the silver lining when we fail.
One is to simply look for it. When we’re going through a harrowing experience, it’s often hard to see the bright side. But if we take a step back and try to look at the situation objectively, we may find something positive in it.
Another technique is to think about what we have learned from our failures. What did we do wrong? What can we do differently next time? How can we use this experience to grow and learn?
And finally, we can think about how our failure has made us stronger. Every adversity, every loss, carries a lesson to be gleaned within it. We may not see it at the time, but we can usually find instances where this has been true if we look back on our lives.
But if we take a step back and try to look at the situation objectively, we may find something positive in it.
Develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you
Most people would agree that failure is not a desirable experience.
It’s something we all want to avoid if possible. But, as the saying goes, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Failure can actually be a good thing if we allow it to be. It can help us develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
When something doesn’t go according to plan, it can be easy to feel discouraged and give up. But if we take the time to reflect on what happened and why, we can often learn some valuable lessons. We may find that we were trying to do something that was impossible for us or that we needed to change our approach. We may also realize that things are not as bad as they seem and that there is always something to be learned from every experience.
Failure can help us become more resilient and better able to cope with difficult situations.
It can also make us more determined and motivated to succeed. So, next time you find yourself facing a difficult challenge, remember that failure can be a good thing — it can help you become stronger and more successful.
Don’t give up — keep moving forward, and you will eventually find success.
The final word
It is inevitable that we will trip, fall, and get ourselves dirty with failure in our lives.
And it’s when we do that we have the opportunity to learn something new.
Failure teaches us what is not working to better understand what does work. We can also find out more about ourselves and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us; this enables us to enjoy life’s many opportunities. It is important to remember that failure is part of life, and every time we try something new, there is a chance that we will not succeed. Even for us who are super optimists, it’s essential to be resilient in the face of failure and keep trying because eventually, success will come knocking.
Remembering these things makes it possible to enjoy all of life’s many opportunities.
So don’t give up — keep moving forward and remember this phrase that has kept me moving: “Always fail forward.”
